Controller's CommentsThis was my first experience as a Controller and, in spite of the time constraints, I was happy with the whole process. Jack had produced some excellent courses which I believe competitors greatly enjoyed – in spite of the muddy conditions underfoot and the stream crossings! I know that a couple of the controls gave some competitors a bit of trouble (the Pit 214 and the Ditch Junction 245) but I am happy that all the controls were accurate and fair. On reflection, I think that the Light Green course was probably a tad on the long side, but hopefully the flat terrain meant that this wasn’t too excessive for competitors. It is a lovely area of forest which I thoroughly enjoyed visiting - and the weather was made to order too! Organiser's CommentsMy involvement with this event started in earnest about a month ago at the time of our previous event, the November Classic, when we had torrential rain and storm force winds. I dreaded a repeat of these conditions but the forecast for this Sunday was good, and so it was. The idea to organise the event from “Round Hill” campsite worked very well, despite having 2 separate road crossings. I heard no adverse comments from any of the competitors, Jack’s courses were well received, and everyone appeared to have enjoyed themselves. No event like this happens on its own. Many thanks to Jerry & the Emit registration and results service, to the willing band of SOC helpers who, as always, succeed in making the day a success, and to all of you, who turned up on the day, for your support.
